Carlos Vazquez - President and Member

Carlos Vazquez photo As President of Metropolitan Development Group LLC, Carlos Vazquez is responsible for overseeing the company's operations. These responsibilities include overseeing the financing, acquisition, development and management of new residential and mixed-use communities. Through his leadership the company has quickly established a strong foundation on which to grow and excel in the region.  As one of the company's core partners, Mr. Vazquez has owned and managed more than 1,400 units from Connecticut to Texas. Mr. Vazquez's expertise in architecture, land planning and development endows the company with a unique perspective and allows us to seamlessly integrate our community processes from inception to lease up. He directs the company in the strategic positioning of each development. A graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in architecture Mr. Vazquez later earned a Master of Science in Architecture and Engineering from Catholic University.

Kellie Lessard Brooks - Asset Manager/ President of Metropolitan Management Group LLC.

Ms. Brooks heads up Metropolitan Development Group’s Asset Management team. She is responsible for the marketing and the leasing strategy for the company. Kellie also overseas the lease up strategies and monthly financials for all the assets. Ms. Lessard-Brooks oversees the current properties and continues to identify new developments. In her role she weighs the potential developments for their viability with neighborhood development and potential market niche. Kellie has also opened the property management division of Metropolitan. Ms. Lessard-Brooks is an active president, in this position, she is responsible for the overall management and direction of Met Management Group LLC (MMG). Responsibilities include management of the corporate staff, researching and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the rental markets in which MMG operates, closely working with managers to develop leasing and business strategies for the properties and insuring the company and properties achieve financial performance goals. She has over 15 years experience in the real estate industry. Prior to her current role as Asset Manager, she was in charge of Land acquisitions for O & B Group. Kellie Lessard Brooks photo

Benjamin Butler- Project Manager

Benjamin Butler photo Benjamin Butler is the Project Manager for Metropolitan Development Group. He has the primary responsibility for the pre-construction, construction and post construction phases for all the company's communities. This includes site and architectural plan review, value engineering, construction specifications approval, final budget approval, selection of the General Contractor, obtaining all permits and bonds, construction oversight with particular emphasis on quality control and adherence to the budget and schedule, building turnover and final municipal approvals. Mr. Butler comes to Metropolitan Development Group with a plethora of talents and skills. Benjamin has previously been actively involved in the residential construction industry acting as assistant superintendents for multi-million projects. As a former assistant superintendent, Mr. Butler provides Metropolitan Development Group with an excellent insight into the myriad processes required to bring a community from inception to occupancy and maintain the standards that Metropolitan Development Group demands from their properties. Mr. Butler is acquiring his Masters in Real Estate Development at the University of Maryland.

Michelle Smithgall, Controller

Michelle Smithgall is the Controller for Metropolitan Development Group. Ms. Smithgall brings over 30 years of accounting experience to Metropolitan Development Group, specializing in the residential real estate development and property management arena. She has held various management positions with several residential homebuilders and property management firms and has extensive experience in all aspects of financial management, cost management, strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow. Ms. Smithgall is responsible for maintaining internal controls and the overall financial integrity of the Metropolitan Development Group of entities. She oversees both the development and property management accounting departments, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow and ensuring regulatory compliance on all partnership loans.
Ms. Smithgall received her Bachelor Degree in Finance from Towson University.
